Man Cold Strikes in Paradise

Merhaba family, friends, co-workers and internet creepers,

As everyone this side of the Aegean knows, Lance has a cold. I wouldn't say it is the worst cold in the history of colds, but he might. Constant throat clearing, sneezing and deep groans (not the good kind) have been my reality for the last couple of days. I have managed to fight off the infection that is my husband....for now....but I dont know how much longer I can. I am pretty sure he sneezed directly into my mouth yesterday.

Other than the cold, we have been doing very well and having a great time. Rather than ramble on, let me show you with pictures what we have been up to.

Here is our little room at the Watermill where Lance has been depositing bodily fluids into my mouth. See above for an explanation.

On our first morning here after sleeping in until 11:30 am, teenager style, or perhaps severely jet-lagged style, we went for a hike to a nearby swimming spot called Aktash. It was a 4km hike one way. I thought it was the easiest hike EVER on the way there. On the way back however I realized that the entire journey had been sloped and the hike home was 4km uphill from sea level. It was a good workout. This picture is taken on the way there. Hence the grin. Behind me is the mountain, Babadag.

Aktash! We had this little secluded swimming spot basically to ourselves. It was shaded by pine trees and would have been romantic if not for the phlegm.

On our second day here it rained. We stayed in our little room, watched some downloaded TV shows (like the entire first season of American Horror Story -thanks Janko for the recommendation and the nightmares) and I stared at this guy a lot.

On the third day, we emerged from our little hiding spot and visited the ancient site of Tlos. The ancient city dates back over 4000 years. Here is a picture of the amphitheatre. It is unique as it was not built into a hill but rather was a free standing structure. It took about 150 years to build.

That's me. Just chillin on the ruins of an ancient bath house. One of two on the site. No big deal. Seriously though, Lance and I were surprised that none of the ruins were really barricaded off. We had basically free reign to walk throughout the site. This was a very different experience from other ancient archaeological sites that we have been to.
Tlos and Lance-O. The pillars house tombs of the rich and the famous circa a long time ago. And that is a fact.

Simply stunning.

This is the view from on top of Tlos overlooking the surrounding valley - excellent for preparing for and defending against invading enemies. In the background you can see whitecapped Babadag (the Watermill is on the other side).

After Tlos, we had lunch at a restaurant/trout farm. Check out the bar with liddle troutlings swimming around. It was totally gross - the fish that is (food was tasty). That is my "this is gross" smile.

To finish off the day, I decided to beat the shit out of some geese. The pictures were too grotesque to post - I don't want PETA on my ass so we chose this one, at the beginning of the sparring match. Check out my fine fighting form. Trust me those are fists of fury, not fear.
